He is GB’s most-capped player with 111 appearances and is set to have a chance to add to his tally in the IIHF World Championship Division I – Group A in Nottingham in April and May for the final games of his career.

The 40-year-old made his World Championship debut in 2003 and has been GB captain since 2012.

Phillips has so far won two gold medals and three silver medals as part of a glittering international and domestic career.

The Cardiff-born forward has been part of so many big moments for the national team, perhaps none more so than the assist for Ben Davies’ overtime winning goal in the come-from-behind 4-3 overtime victory against France to keep GB at the top level of the World Championship in 2019.

Domestically, Phillips began his career with his home-town club and played for the Devils in the old Superleague and Elite League.

He also had stints in the BNL with Basingstoke and Milton Keynes, before joining Sheffield Steelers in 2006-07.

Since then, he’s won the league title four times. lifted the playoff trophy three times and also won one Challenge Cup.

Jono has been a legend and inspiration for club and country – and an outstanding leader.
