IIHF ANNOUNCE 2024 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENTS AND VENUES

The IIHF have confirmed the venues for next year’s World Championship tournaments.

The schedule for 2024 was rubber-stamped at the annual Congress, taking place this year in Finland.

Great Britain Women will travel to Riga for the World Championship Division I Group B in late March/early April 2024, with specific dates still to be confirmed.

They’ll face Italy, Poland and Slovenia, as well as hosts Latvia who were promoted from Division II Group A.

There’s still one slot to be filled which is the relegated team for the Division I Group A tournament taking place in August.

GB Men’s Under-20s will play on home ice with the World Championship Division II Group A taking place in Dumfries.

Britain will be joined by Lithuania, Netherlands and Spain, along with promoted China and relegated Korea from 11th to 17th December 2023.

GB Men’s Under-18s are off to Sosnowiec in Poland for the World Championship Division II Group A from 17th to 23rd April 2024.

Croatia, Romania and Serbia are also part of the six-team group, as well as promoted Netherlands and relegated Poland.

GB Under-18 Women are off to the Heerenveen, Netherlands for their World Championship Division II Group A from 15th to 21st January 2024.

Joining GB and the Netherlands are Latvia and Turkey, along with promoted Kazakhstan and relegated Chinese Taipei.

Following promotion on home ice at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham earlier this month, Great Britain Men confirmed their place at the 2024 World Championship in Czechia.

It’s taking place in Prague and Ostrava and GB will learn their opponents and venue following the conclusion of this year’s World Championship in Finland and Latvia.

2024 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENTS
GB Men: World Championship 
Venue: Prague and Ostrava, Czechia. Dates: 10th to 26th May 2024

GB Women: Women’s World Championship – Division I Group B
Venue: Riga, Latvia. Dates: Late March/early April 2024 – specific dates TBC.
Teams: Great Britain, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia, TBC.

GB Under-20s Men: U20 World Championship – Division II Group A
Venue: Dumfries, Scotland. Dates: 11th to 17th December 2023.
Teams: Great Britain, China, Korea, Lithuania, Netherlands, Spain.

GB Under-18s Men: U18 World Championship – Division II Group A
Venue: Sosnowiec, Poland. Dates: 17th to 23rd April 2024.
Teams: Great Britain, Croatia, Netherlands, Poland Romania, Serbia.

GB Under-18s Women: U18 Women’s World Championship – Division II Group A
Venue: Heerenveen, Netherlands. Dates: 15th to 21st January 2024.
