Over 130 players, coaches and support staff attended the two-day camp at Ice Sheffield.

It was an excellent opportunity to get the three junior teams together to work on their plans for the 2023-24 international season.

GB Men’s Head Coach Pete Russell spoke to the youngsters about the programme’s vision for the future and there was also a talk from Ice Hockey UK Chair, Clifton Wrottesley, where they confirmed the new direction for the GB Men’s Programme, looking to the GB Men’s team and replicating the successes that they are having on the ice.

Each age group had two training sessions a day on the ice, while there were also off-ice sessions and classroom-based activities.

Sam Kelvey and his Strength & Conditioning team conducted off-ice testing over the road at the UK Sports Institute on the first day.

Lead Nutritionist Pamela Ibarra provided a nutrition and hydration presentation to each age group on day two, while sports psychologist Daisy Lee was introduced to the GB Programme athletes, coaches and support staff.

Sam and his team are keen to show the key role that sports science will play in helping participants in the GB Programme become complete athletes and, in particular, improve their performances on the ice.
