Josh Shaw scored the game-winner just over two minutes into overtime to secure GB two points in the opening game of the tournament.

Konrad Lorincz put Romania ahead when he went five-hole on an early first-period penalty shot (2:41), before Jacob White-Sey’s shot from the left circle was fumbled into his net by Marton Buda (10:34).

A little over two minutes later, Louie White tipped in White-Sey’s shot from the blueline to put GB ahead (12:47).

Romania hit back when Gergo Kozma put away his own rebound as the two sides went to the first intermission level at two.

Britain regained their advantage when Sam Lyne shot through traffic (31:40), but Romania equalised in the closing stages through Elod Kovacs shot from the blueline on the powerplay (55:20).

Lyne’s perfect pass from the left-hand side set-up Shaw to bury the winner (62:08) to give GB a winning start at the World Championship.
